When Rolandjan participated in his first Vipassana retreat in 2001, it greatly influenced his life. Self-examination and the search for what is real came to the fore.
Knowing intuitively that we are not our body, emotions and thoughts, he then continued the search – almost paradoxically – first and foremost through the body through asana yoga. In the following years he studied various forms of yoga, such as Anusara, Kundalini and Iyengar yoga. Breathwork, inquiry methods such as Focussing and Open Presence also touch his interest and he integrates into his lessons. Due to his connection with nature and outdoor life, he can regularly be found on his yoga mat in the park or garden.
With the advent of the meditative practice of Yin yoga on its path, everything comes together.
Rolandjan likes to see yoga as a path to self-examination and seeing who or what you really are, through and then perhaps beyond the body.
He shares this with much inspiration and attention in his lessons, where “his” instead of “doing”, deep relaxation and openness to what is, are paramount.
